It should be a ton better now, give it a try.

I'm going to move the database server back one of these weekends, the old server was a lot closer to pente.org while the newer/stronger server is halfway across the world.
The search does not appear super slow anymore, but not fast either, I'm hoping moving the server back will alleviate that. I now believe the queries suffered mostly from network traffic, rather than the lack of computing power, and I've reduced the network traffic to a minimum now.

I've taken a few days, and used different machines from different locations. Even different parts of the state.

I does seem better most of the time. there is still an occasional delay with results but they are rare and the delay is not very long.

Thanks for you efforts!!!!!

Thank you for the kind words, and all the testing. I decided to keep the database on the more remote machine because that one has an extra core which offsets the network delay most of the time.

There's one more speedup I want to try out once I find some time to implement it.

Hi Rainwolf,
I forget if I asked about this before, but is it possible for me to download a copy of the database for a machine learning project?
Thanks,
Mark

The database and players' profiles don't seem to have any completed games after December 8th. Is this related to database relocation, or is it a different issue?

Retired from TB Pente, but still playing live games & exploring variants like D, poof and boat

There was a corruption regarding replication (the DB database is hosted elsewhere), that's fixed now, thank you for reporting this.
