I'm going to move the database server back one of these weekends, the old server was a lot closer to pente.org while the newer/stronger server is halfway across the world. The search does not appear super slow anymore, but not fast either, I'm hoping moving the server back will alleviate that. I now believe the queries suffered mostly from network traffic, rather than the lack of computing power, and I've reduced the network traffic to a minimum now.

Thank you for the kind words, and all the testing. I decided to keep the database on the more remote machine because that one has an extra core which offsets the network delay most of the time.
There's one more speedup I want to try out once I find some time to implement it.

Hi Rainwolf, I forget if I asked about this before, but is it possible for me to download a copy of the database for a machine learning project? Thanks, Mark

The database and players' profiles don't seem to have any completed games after December 8th. Is this related to database relocation, or is it a different issue?
Retired from TB Pente, but still playing live games & exploring variants like D, poof and boat
