That feature (Allowing users to attach any file to a post) IS available at the "next" level up of the jive software these forums use.
Jive software versions Basic - free for me (non-profit site), what I'm currently using. Professional - need to get quote for non-profit site Enterprise
So if this is a feature that alot of users want then I would consider upgrading to Professional using the donation money I've raised so far.

Just wanted to say that I have now purchased the Professional version of jive that allows files to be uploaded. You can accomplish this by posting a message and when you are down with the message, click "Attach Files" and then you can browse to the files on your computer you want to upload.
