Thank you all for signing up, the tournament starts tomorrow.
Just want to post a few details real quick today. Since this tournament will be longer (swiss format, 5 rounds at least), I am going to allow players to take a vacation bye for one round. Each round you play 4 games, so a vacation bye will give you a 2-2 win-loss record for the round. So it might hurt you, but you won't be out of the tournament. The tournament will last at last 10 weeks for all players (2 weeks/round). You must email me, or post here at the forum, if you need to take a vacation bye, and which round BEFORE next Friday, April 8th. Round 1 - April 1st - April 15th Round 2 - April 16th - April 29th Round 3 - April 30th - May 13th Round 4 - May 14th - May 27th Round 5 - May 28th - June 11th After that, if there is need for a finals playoff, you can't take a vacation bye.
Also, I have created this forum for the tournament to help you schedule your matches once the tournament starts. I also added a watch on the forum for all of you, that means all posts to the forum will also be emailed to you. If you don't want that, then come to the forum and remove the watch.
I will post round 1 matches and other details tomorrow morning! Who will win the silver crown! -dweebo
Scheduling So, go find out who you are playing against at the tournaments area, then go to the DSG forum for this tournament and create a new post about when you can play, or look and see if your opponent has already posted. Scheduling is always tricky, so start planning now, otherwise you'll run out of time, all first round matches must be finished by Friday, April 14th Midnight EST. If you don't finish, someone will be forced to forfeit the match. If you are having problems coordinating, post to the forums about it, I will be monitoring everything and will try to help. If the match still doesn't get played, I will try to determine which player was the problem and give them the forfeit, or maybe BOTH players will get the forfeit.
Playing Remember to play your games in the new room specified for the tournament, don't play in the main room! You can choose which room when you login, or you can switch between the rooms once you have joined alobby. You must play 4 games in each round, all against the same opponent. Play as white twice and as black twice. If you win two games and your opponent wins two games that is ok, you don't have to play any more games to break the tie.
If there are problems Post to the forum immediately! Always post to the forum! In the event of a major problem, such as DSG crashing in the middle of your game (oh please no!), let me know and I can find the moves of the game before the crash. Then restart the game with those same moves. It's not a perfect solution but it's better than nothing.
Cheating Please don't cheat, this is supposed to be fun, it's not all about winning! Please review the rules regarding cheating again before you start playing, anyone caught cheating will be immediately disqualified.
