Pente, yes. Ninuki, no. I cap across your imperfect 5 at M12 and you can't avoid a fifth cap after that, regardless of your next turn. Returning to N12 after my cap looks like the only way white could win it to me...

do you think that after M12 a move at J11 is still forbidden?

btw we discuss easy 3-moves win already all week lol why not to take your old Pente board, set up that position...

1.) Why do you think that I didn't set the position up on a board?
2.) If you'd explained your winning scenario point by point instead of just saying Pente, we wouldn't have spent a week going back and forth about what was an easy 3-moves win (to you).

well, here are two basic lines:
(a) J8, H7, N12, L14, L12, M12, J11 -- 5 captures, since no 2x3 at J11
(b) J8, H7, N12, L12, H11, L14, J11 -- the same thing

so it is a win for P1 though at first i was mistaken, thinking that overline is a win in ninuki.

what else? i have a feeling that you didnt even look at my figures. you... you and zoeyk are both gamblers. for me, im a bookworm, spending hours studying positions and reading about Pente. that is the difference between you and me.

I'm not an expert in Ninuki so maybe someone can shoot this idea down:

Regarding the board position posted by pente_fan on October 30, 2008 at 5:20AM, white has just played J8...

What does white do if black responds now with O14*?

are you implying i don't spend hours studying pente?

i know for sure "some one" can validate the fact that i study alot.

i play and study, thanks.

Ps. matter of fact,..i challenge you to some turn based,..

Bring it.

well, once again, I've laid the position out on the board and I see what looks like a win for black, as up2ng hypothesizes, but since I'm still sticking with my original claim that ninuki is a tough game to learn and I don't claim to have learned it, I'll be interested to see whether anyone can shoot down the newly proposed reply to J8 of O14*. Anyone?

O14 is a reasonable idea.

my answer

(c) J8, O14, M9, N8, K11, K10, K11, H7, J11, H11, N11 -- PENTE!!!

okay, looks good to me- I can't see any viable alternatives for black within that line (or elsewhere). How about you, up2ng?

Yep, looks right. White wins from that board position. Good job pente_fan!
