Java
Posted: Nov 4, 2016, 7:40 AM

Why can't I log on anymore? It says my computer isn't configured to run Java, but we all know everything runs on Java and I just updated it.
Any help or advice, much appreciated

Browsers are phasing out support for Java, right now it seems it only works in Safari and the 32 bit version of Firefox, but not the 64 bit version. It definitely doesn't work in Chrome. There may be lesser known browsers in which it still works, but I can't confirm that.

The game room should still work by downloading it to the desktop with the install link that's underneath the "join Game Room" button.

It's been quite some time since I've played here, and since that time I've been using a MacBook. Am I able to play in the game room? If so, what do I need to do to enable play on my apple?

Thanks!

I use a mac as well, and it works for me on Firefox and Safari, Chrome will definitely not work.

You need the Java runtime or install Java from the Oracle website. Perhaps Firefox and Safari will ask you to install an additional plugin and you should be set to go. If this fails, the quick and easy fix is to install the the game room on your desktop and run it that way, but this, again, needs the Java runtime installed and allows you to get into the game room without a browser.

No luck. I downloaded JRE from your link and restarted. Game Room doesn't open. I downloaded the GR to my desktop, too. Still no luck, all i'm told to do is to download JRE, which I have.

Do you get the same result if you install Java from oracle?

Yep, no luck. It sends me to an Error 404 page.

Ok, looks like I was missing something here. I finally got the app working! Thanks!

I would like to play live, but I am close to illiterate when it comes to configuring computer stuff.

I downloaded game room to desktop and after I open it and sign in I get a blue screen in that window with the message "connecting to gameroom, port 16000..." and so far it has never connected.

What does that mean and what do I need to do to connect?

I made some changes to the game room and forgot to update the "install the game room on the desktop" part. It should all work now. If it doesn't with the copy you have on your desktop, then use the link again to reinstall it and run it again. It should all work now.
