MSO

Dear friends
I see Marks mail about MSO.
I
was contact person from RIF to discuss with David
Levy questions about including Renju at MSO.
As you
know Pente was born as Ninuki-Renju.
Organizing
MSO-event.
Reality is that you need to bring boards for tournament
above 20 and stones 120*20=2400, 20 chess
clocks.
Who of you will bring it to the place of Competition
?
MSO only suggest you to book some hotels or hostels,
(You have to do it by yourself) and give you the place
at MSO-Place (Alexandra Palace).
All
participants have to pay 15 GBP for entering the competition
to MSO-organizers.
So, one side it is important
to take part at MSO - to advertisize the game, but
the other side it is easy to make Championship in
another place.
Some kinds of Games like Shogi - have
their own sponsors (Amazon.com) , so the participants
have received some compensation expenses (above 300
USD) and winners can win some money (above 5000
USD).
Next year it will be more MSO events for instanse
MSO-Prague in July, so it probably will be
Renju-event.
But Renju have their Calendar and we will have 7-th
World Championship in Renju in Kyoto at 4-11 August
2001.
Organizers take a part of living expenses during the WC, (40
USD instead of 120-150).
So, to organize something
you need sponsors money and players willing to pay
for airtickets to different places in the world..

I remember that Tom Braunlich was contact with me
before we established RIF in 1988, he wanted to visit
Moscow, and he suggested that Parker Brothers will
enter to RIF and will pay 10000 USD sponsorship to RIF,
but Japanese was against.
By the way, it is
interesting to see about results Renju players in Pente
events (PBM-server) or IYT:

rensin - Igor Sinev
was N2 at Last WC.(Moscow Club)
uo9man - Kazuto
Hasegawa ex-champion in Renju , was N4 at last
WC.(Japan)
student - Dmitry Krasnonosov (Moscow Club)
barykin
(lancer) - Victor Barykin (Russia)
leonid - Leonid
Glukhovsky (Israel- but before Moscow Club)
basplund -
Bengt Asplund (Sweden)
azabrodin - Alexander
Zabrodin (Moscow Club)

(stepanov- is not pure Renju
player (Sankt-Peterburg)
ladybird - also not a pure
Renju player, but play Renju.)(Russia)

May be
best players from Pente also will try themselfs in
Renju ?
