Communications on Dashboard

Sometimes it would be really handy to have the ability to message someone from the Dashboard. Often people are just online and not in the Game Room, and I want to message them in a way that they can notice right away. Sending them a message with the current system relies on people checking those messages or at least noticing that they have one.
Would it be possible to add a live message board on the Dashboard? Or the ability to invite someone to a game even if they are not in the game room?
