Game Database - Backend Change
Posted: Dec 8, 2006, 4:56 PM

I just put up a release that changes the game database on the backend. I changed the way moves are stored in order to avoid the problem where a game would show up in search results that was a different position than the one searched for. I am more confident that the new algorithm will avoid these "collisions".

To do this I had to change some data on ALL 7 million+ moves in the database. So, let me know if you find something wrong when using the database. I also ran across a number of games with invalid moves, either moves off the board, or duplicate moves (trying to place a stone on a position that was already occupied, or just plain corrupted database data). So I'll be trying to either fix those or remove them shortly, all of them are for games played before 09/2004, and alot of them are for games on IYT.
