I can't seem to be able to chat

Hi, I'm new to the board and I seem to be able to connect ok but I can't type anything in the chat box. I thought it might have been my installed jave so I downloaded the plugin but that didn't seem to solve my problem. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. shortglide
