I've noticed in the last week or so that while playing the computer I have to wait a much longer time for the ma to make her move ... what's up with that?!

Maybe you're getting better and playing the higher-level computer opponents? The higher the level, the slower the computer gets since it has to "think" more.
I don't think there has been increased activity on the server that would cause it to slow down. Let me know if it continues to be slower than you think is normal.
