Learn what is a -FUKUMI- in terms of pente
Posted: May 21, 2009, 11:21 PM

A "Fukumi" is something very important to learn in pente.
it is a Japanese word i am adopting for pente terminology.
(pronounced "foo-koo-mee")

It is a 3x2 shape that threatens to become a 4x3 shape the next move if unanswered by the opponent.

im simply moving the japanese word from gomoku over to pente so that both games identicle concepts can now share the same name.
these are just some examples of a Fukumi. i will add more in time. enjoy..

This first one here is one of the strongest "Fukumis" there is.

This one is very strong too

This one is medium strength.

This one is medium to strong depending on the boards state.

This one is also very strong depending on the state of the board.

Here is a "Double Fukumi". If its whites move and black
only has one capture so far then white is looking good usually.
