Probably most of you know that gomoku standard is sure win for P1. On site below you can test it and try to survive as long as possible as P2. But no matter how good you will play you will lose latest in the 35th move. It means that P1 need only 18 stones to win. It is quite fast isn't it?

Thanks for the link, pente_gon. I can't remember now how long the game lasts in renju without swaps, but it's not much longer. This was proved by the former Pente player virag, along with Victor Allis, for those who don't know. Gary Barnes, AKA progambler used to predict that tournament rules Pente was a sure win in approximately 20 moves, back around 2003 or so when he was at or near the top of his game.

In my opinion, all students of Pente should study all of virag's real time Pente games in the same way they would study the turn based games of other master players. Back when he stopped playing here, ratings were still calculated on single games, so someone who beat you once playing as P1 took away rating points that you might have gained by beating them twice as player 1 and once as player two (depending on the ratings difference between the two players, of course). The glass ceiling on Pente ratings here was estimated to be 2100 at that time due to the single game rating system, so virag's final rating here of 2089 pretty much speaks for itself without further comment.
