another puzzle

I have a game-based puzzle that watsu skimmed through last night...it's black to move with a forced win in 7. The first 3 moves should be enough to show the idea.

I see 2 solution in 7 moves
1. M10 (follow by J7 and M7)
2. J7 and than M7

Yes, thanks pente_gon. J7 is the key shortcut.

If my db detective work is right, the core of this position has been reached 29 times in the database.

Of those 29, 12 made the unnecessary extension at L6, myself included.

Only one person found J7 (me this time), most of the others used the methodical K8.

Only one person lost the initial position.

If J7 without M10 first, does white prolong by forcing black to make a 4 before capturing by making a tria? ETA never mind,I see

I think that if you go straight to J7, then if white doesn't occupy M7, you play M7 and it's done. If white plays M7, you take the pair creating the double threat that way.

Maybe I'm blind, but so far I'm not seeing how J7 won't win in 6 moves here.
ETA: Pente_gon enlightened me - M10 + extend it out

No, it's still 7, but white needs to play at M10 and then extend to N10 or O10 to make it 7 moves. That's why ideal puzzles are so challenging to make, there are often different approaches which end up with the same number of moves, but only if the other side is playing to prolong the puzzle, which doesn't always happen in an actual game scenario. Good catch by pente_gon on the second line!
