Who first played the wedge?

I seem to recall that it might have been Tom Braunlich who first came up with the idea of playing the wedge as an alternative to playing into the hammer, but I'm very uncertain of the accuracy of that. Any Pente historians recall the details on the wedge opening?

Scott Justice answered my question on the pente.org Facebook page: it was Rollie Tesh who "was the first to explore the so-called Wedge Opening, which was the most popular opening system during this tournament." with the source being the 1983 World Tournament Championship Pente book. Thank you sjustice for that information and kudos to rollietesh for the wedge (in addition to the first extensive analysis of the hammer, of course).
