Unable to chat in games

When I try chatting from the mobile app on a OnePlus 9 pro, there is no send button and pressing enter on the keyboard does nothing. I cannot even find anywhere to type chat messages on the desktop website.

do you mean the chat in the game? or just stand-alone messages?
The chat in the game is a message that gets sent together with a move. When you submit the move, the message is sent along.
You can test this by adding a message, submitting the move, then open the same inactive game, the message should be visible then. If someone sent another message on an earlier move, the message would appear when you click the back button of the game to get to that move.
