Buy Pente Boards

Does anyone out there know where players can buy an actual physical Pente Board Game?
I get asked all the time and don't have any answer for players because I don't know where. The funny thing is I don't even own a board myself! It would be great if anyone knew of an online store where the game could be purchased. I would also love to sell the board game through DSG so I could make a little more money to support the site. But I'd have to find someone willing to sell me a large number of boards, any ideas anyone!

The vinyl boards with the glass potting stones and the Greek motif around the border are out of print. You can probably still find them in board-game shops, though.
Go boards, however, are pretty easy to find, even here in the States. They are the same thing, except the stones aren't made of glass and the boards are usually wooden boards.
Dweebo, there's no reason you couldn't sell Go, Go-Moku or Renju sets through the site, if you wanted. You couldn't call them Pente sets, though, and you couldn't use the decorative Greek borders. (The word Pente is a trademarked and the board decorations are copyrighted.)
If you wanted to sell your own "DSG" sets, you can find the glass potting stones at a local arts and crafts store, and you could talk to a local print shop about how much it would cost to print a 19x19 grid on vinyl, or, if you have a lot of time to kill, you could silk-screen the grid on the vinyl yourself. Or you could try to buy a bunch of generic Go sets at wholesale price, have a "DSG" ink stamp made and then mark them up for sale here.
Someday, an online pente store that sells collectable out of production boards, along with fancy stones and boards, and all kinds of other pente stuff, someday maybe!? joeking

I think that I could make the pente/dweebostonegames boards. I can't promise that I can make them. 19X19 is a bit big for me and I will need to look into how much it would cost me to make and print. But I think I could do it. I couldn't make the stones though, but Cicerolove says she could do it in a post recently. So if we coordinate I think we could get the site some revenue. So Dweebo if you want me to look into how much it will cost. I will. If not I wont bother. but IF I could do it You wouldnt even have to buy them from me i could just make a dontaion for every game sold, to the site. I would need a logo of course. later Etnep

Many years have passed since this message, but my response might help another newbie. 4-player Pente games are available from macys.com for about $20. Additional stones are a challenge!

so a couple of years ago I found one that was like a rubber mat that you would roll out and it came with the beads. I had the original board game as a kid and I loved it but I can't find it. I am hoping its at my mom's house. I did get to go to the pizza restaurant in Stillwater, Oklahoma where the game first debuted and was created. That was cool.
I believe that in 1978, they made 50,000 glass Pente boards, and they can still be found on occasion on eBay or Etsy. Likewise, the vinyl tube Pente games can be found on eBay or even at an Estate sale. Of course, the Glass and Wooden Pente board games are very rare. Whenever I see one, I buy it. Whichever one you're looking for, eBay is your best bet. Happy Hunting.
