in this game, white wins in 11 moves. but the game is actually over in 8 moves. black has no choice but to follow white to his doom after white's 8th. so this got me to wondering... does anyone have examples of a winning , inescapable structure in say 7 moves? how about 6? dare i ask if its possible in 5? having played ned and pgon, i know they always take a pause after the 5th move. is this why?
White's win by threats structure in that position can be boiled down to 5 stones, yes. A vertical tria blocked at the bottom + two stones on the diagonal is a double threat - a fukumi when the vertical line is extended at K12 to make a 4+3 as well as a threat to make a double tria at L9. However, they're likely just pausing to make a sandwich or smth.
