I have seen that there are some chess players. Maybe someone will be interested:

White king is invisible. Where is he? What was last 2 moves?

Puzzle from "The chess mystery of the arabian knights" by Raymond Smullyan with interesting retro analysis chess problems.

OMG!

I love Raymond Smullyan. Have you read his other one, Chess Mysteries of Sherlock Holmes? Found those as a youngster.

His The Tao is Silent is also wonderful, but it's a completely different topic.

(I'll skip answering, have the books...)

Were you thinking of creating some retrograde analysis puzzles for Pente?

That sounds very intriguing...

I was thinking about retrograde analysis puzzle for pente but chess are much more suitable for this type of puzzle. Some day I'm going to back to this idea and maybe prepare something.

I have seen some puzzles from "chess mysteries..." but I don't have that book.

I am not chess player. I know rules but played only few games in my live. Standard chess tasks are not funny to me but this I really like.
