Cannot Access Gameroom or Play the Computer

Haven't been to the site in a while and now have a Windows 10 laptop. Found Microsoft Edge doesn't play well with Java and/or add-ons, so am trying to use a Chrome browser, but keep getting this message when click the Applet Troubleshooting applet; "Your browser does not support java or is not configured properly to run java programs." Have downloaded and installed the most recent Java so am at a loss.

Install Java from Oracle (java.com), it should be the first link if you google "Java". Then use the link that says "or install the game room on your desktop. " next to the red letters. Once that little file is downloaded, open it from your saved location and that should bring you to the game room.

Have installed Java and downloaded the Gameroom. Clicked on the Pente.jnlp icon, the Java text box popped up and then received an Application Error message "Unable to launch the application". Clicked on the details button and got this

can you check your settings in the Java Control Panel?
Specifically, in the general tab, can you check the network settings and try both the browser settings and the direct connection and see if that has any effect?
