Computer play of renju with swaps improves dramatically in 2017
Posted: Sep 10, 2017 7:29 AM

In the last year and a half computer AI for Go has taken the strategy game world by storm thanks to Deep Mind's AlphaGo wins against top level Go players as mentioned in the pente.org thread below, though this year's online thrashing of all comers as well as defeating the world's top Go player Ke Jie 3-0 didn't get into the thread @ https://pente.org/gameServer/forums/thread.jspa?forumID=1&threadID=230782&tstart=45

Perhaps of more interest to Pente players though is the increasingly strong performance of the renju playing computer program Yixin. Renju without swaps was shown to be a first player win by Virag early on in this century, but renju with swaps is far from solved.
But, in the past year Yixin beat the #7 Elo rated renju player 3-1 in Soosorv-8 swap renju. Renju Elo ratings can be found here: http://renjuoffline.com/renju-rating/ Compare a 3-1 victory over a player with an Elo of 2550 vs. last year's 2 wins 2 draws 4 losses performance against a player with an Elo rating of 2318 and you can see that computer renju has also made great strides over the last year or so. Details on the games can be found at http://www.aiexp.info/pages/yixin.html

I don't want to play non tournament rules games. If you take one of my unrated invites, play tourney
