What are the chances of keeping an entire chat posted throughout a game?

Hey valleyboy, not sure what you mean. The messages throughout a game should all be saved in the database, but they are always _only_ visible to the players themselves, not to other players.

If any messages get lost, that's probably a bug. Also note that those messages are limited in size, and attempting to store larger messages will result in the loss of that message.

Hmm...all I've seen is one comment or one reply posted or read at the time of a move with no "train of thought" or thread of chat... a bit disconcerting in a game that goes on for weeks, especially for one of my age where you know that memory is the second thing to go...

Some players may not have a train of thought at all

But in all seriousness, if your opponent is sure to have sent a message and it's not showing up, let me know and I'll investigate further.

Are we both talking about turn-based?

Then...what are the chances of an entire conversation being visible full time throughout a game, not just the last comment or reply?

That should always be the case.

In the past, it could happen that messages were too long to be stored in the database and would get lost when a game ended or when the server needed a restart. But I don't think that should happen anymore, if it does, then I would need to take a closer look.

So if your opponent can confirm there were messages that aren't showing up anymore, then let me know and I will investigate further.

Odd, then...I get only the last comment or reply in a small box under the game...what you're saying is that the entire conversation during the game should be visible?

Yes, if you go back move-by-move, then the messages would also be replayed with the moves they were sent with.

If you click on any move in the list of moves, then not just the game's position at that move will be loaded, but also the message sent at that move will be shown.
