donate by credit card

I would like to donate but every time i see that I have to make a paypal account I'm like ugh. Am I right? it does occur to me that paypal is probably run by registering a credit card, but the extra effort is a deterrence (but the effort put into this post is somehow okay with me). Also I'm curious why not have the credit card option, does it cost more, is it less safe?

Hey, I am not sure, but at first glance it does require a bit more work, I would have to look into that.
I erroneously assumed that Paypal would process credit cards without an account too, but I was wrong.
If there are others who prefer this feature, please chime in in this thread.

If had my druthers, I would leave paypal out of the mix. But then again, I dont know the processess involved and paypal may be one of the options when 3rd parties must be involved. Also when I donated there was only an option for $10. I was prepared to pay more.

It seems my (paypal) account should be able to process credit card payments without having to make a paypal account. I do not know why that option is not showing, I will call them tomorrow.
@madmike: you mean you prefer not to sign up with paypal or completely bypassing them? If the option comes through to pay without signing up, then cards would still be processed by Paypal. I have no idea where to get started to avoid paypal altogether.

I just got off the phone with Paypal, and it is sadly not an option. The best I could get from them was credit card payments (without a Paypal account) within my own country only.
