Round 3 placements suck. I am playing all the same players as before in other rounds. I would have thought it would have been more round robin than that.

Not true; you've never faced gnoza.
Basically, you're facing the same opponents because of the way the grouping is set up: to ensure that the top players don't face each other 'til the very end. Because of this, you'll be playing players from the same general range. There have also been a lot of upsets, and you're playing marshall because of an upset.
I do agree, however, that the groupings for sections after round 1 should not be based on seedings at the beginning of the tournament, but on some other factor, to increase round-robin-ness. I'll talk to dweebo about it.
