Which side would you pick and why?

Here's a position Mark's AI has been crunching for me for the last several days (still a few days to go). Which side would you prefer to play and why?
K10,O9,J7,K11,M8,L9,M10,M9,N9,L11,O10,O8,N9,L7,K9,M11,N11

sounds good, Zoey, but probably not before Tuesday, since I don't have enough computer power right now to load the game room

In the first situation I would choose seat 2.
--My reasoning is that if black makes the 3 with N10
--White would have to either capture across it or block
--at L12. If white captures then black can just replace
--the O10 stone forcing black to play L12. From there
--black can play L9. At this point I see many options for
--white but I haven't been able to find anything winning
--for white.

In the second situation I would also choose seat 2.
--In this position black capturing with K8 would win.
--White has no path of VCT here. Even though it is not
--blacks turn black can win with just the stones on the
--left of the board and those two in the middle or just
--the stones on the right and those two middle stones.
--There is nothing white can do to stop it.

If you are asking which 3 I would make on the 11 line the move before as black I would say neither. I would just capture at K8. This is winning for black and doesn't add any stones to whites formation making the game last less time.

I hope that what I have said is clear; it is difficult to explain the reasoning with out having a board in front of both of us I could show with.

Ok, I think I've got the making boards figured out.

here is what I was suggesting for situation 1

You may wonder why it is necessary to make the diagonal three with N10 and I will answer that with a board showing what white can do if the three isn't made.

From here white has the win. This would also work if black blocked P9 instead of L13 for move 10

In my defense, I didn't play this out, but here is a continuance for your lower board off the top of my head. let me know if it does something.

H11,J11,H12,J11,O12

The next move white wants to do after black does any forcing moves it can and does some form of blocking for the N line 3 in that bottom board of my earlier post is L10.

This results in (with a few variations) white forcing black to move to M10 and black not having anything to do to stop it. From there white wins by captures. It looks like this solution still works as a response to your proposed moves to me Zoey.

That's part of why the P11 extension earlier is necessary. It prevents black from playing P10 because it would get captured right away and force black to replay the P9 keystone.

It is definitely a tricky situation that one would have to be very careful in.
