Early Christmas
Posted: Dec 4, 2013, 10:04 PM

Santa came a tad earlier to pente.org, and I'll leave it as a little scavenger hunt for all Pentegonians. No grand prize, though the little treasure is a prize in itself, for all of us.

Enough crypto-talk, let the hunt begin

It is not one of the following:
- new game room colors (thank Zoeyk for that),
- new database colors and stones (also thanks to zoeyk),
- the game room guests can talk again,
- ... (more things I missed)

rainwolf... I think when you updated things today, it violated the Java 1.7u45 updated security settings. Now I and others are blocked. Please see: http://pente.org/gameServer/forums/thread.jspa?forumID=3&threadID=229991&tstart=0 for the details.

Rainwolf-I can't make the next move in the turn-based game I have with you (and others) as of this afternoon (Pacific Standard Time). There are several t.b. games I have going, but the one vs. you has had me biting my nails for the last three turns...!!! Please help!!

In that case, I reverted changes and the applets should run for everybody again. Is it resolved now?

Update: Well this ruined a little scavenger hunt. Anyhow, both the game room and turn-based applets should work again. Apparently it was a mac/windows issue. When things were running fine on my mac, they didn't on windows, and vice versa. But at least with Firefox, it now works (for me at least) on both.

Works now, with OSX 10.9, Safari, Java 1.7u45.

Thanks, again for all your diligence.

No problems. Just wanted to let you know it's all running smoothly for me now without the annoying Java security warnings that have been popping up for the last month or two.

Thanks for all your hard work!

That is good to hear. The warnings should stay away for the next 5 years, unless Oracle (probably will) comes up with yet another way to up Java's security.

Glad I stopped your search, it could only be solved server-side, and if I waited longer, then the next java update would not even give you a choice anymore.

It seems I forgot to update the puzzle and the tutorial applet, that is/should also be working again.

Sorry to bother you with this again, but as of this afternoon I am getting an error problem with Java again.

A huge gray box fills the screen.

I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks for your help,
Kathy

Hey Painter62,
Is that still the case? It all seems to work on my end. Java and browsers aren't the most likely of buddies, so usually a browser restart, and ultimately a computer restart, should solve it.
Is it working for you again?
